The Faculty of Health and Education (FHE)’s new dean is an esteemed and decorated professional who boasts many accolades, including being awarded the Presidential Honour for Nursing Meritorious Award, being the first-ever Director of the Department of Institute of Health Sciences in the former Ministry of Tertiary Education, Research, Science and Technology. Dr Thokgamo Boitshwarelo is incredibly proud to add another high-profile position to her impressive resume.
“FHE aspires to be a leader in driving curricular excellence, creating a learner-centered environment, and graduating service-oriented individuals. FHE is a unique department that brings Health and Education into the same platform. It is a rich faculty with health and education professionals under one roof. In this regard, I intend to enhance synergies between the two departments,” says Dr Boitshwarelo on what she brings to her new role.
Dr Boitshwarelo notes that schools and universities should double their efforts to encourage women and girls to study Science, Technology, Engineering, and Maths (STEM). She further highlights that it is important that men and women have access to equal opportunities.
