First-year students in the Faculty of Hospitality and Sustainable Tourism (FHST) were recently assigned a practical project that they had to plan and successfully complete. This exercise was part of their semester-long Internal Continuous Assessment.
The students were successful in their plans to establish a honeymoon suite within the FHST Housekeeping Labs. Their bed-making abilities and towel-folding techniques, among other things, were evaluated. This type of project lays a solid foundation and prepares students for the Work-Integrated Learning programme as well as the industry.
Head of Department for the Hospitality Department, Mrs Sethunya Mogami, stated that she intends to continue with innovative learning approaches to provide students with practical experience that contributes to the Botho Graduate Profile (BGP) approach to learning.
