Botho University was hailed as a star partner at the largest educational conference, Eurasia Higher Education Summit (EURIE 2022) on the success of its virtual internships. The three-day event was attended by higher education professionals and covered a range of topics including insights into pandemic responses, innovative programming, and new trends in internalisation for institutions globally.
Deputy Pro-Vice-Chancellor – Employability and Technology, Aravinda Ram was a keynote speaker at a session called, The African Connection-Global Synergy for Remote Internships which explored the key learnings of successful remote internships undertaken by students from Botswana, Eswatini, Namibia, and Lesotho.
Leeroy Nyamandi, an Accounting student at Botho University in Botswana and a Virtual Intern with Virtual Internships, described his rewarding and engaging experience working for a Chinese real estate firm as an Investor Outreach and Financial Analyst earlier this year.
During the conference, Nyamandi proudly shared his story with the attendees, “The Virtual Internship program has created a new world of possibilities for students like myself, who would otherwise have to look for work in their local area. In contrast, our aspirations and dreams are much greater, and this opportunity provided to me by Botho University has given me wings! International work experience is now within my reach because geographic boundaries are no longer relevant. When I signed up for Virtual Internships during COVID19, I never imagined I would one day represent Botho University and Southern Africa to the rest of the world – the world is now noticing us, and I am humbled and privileged to be able to share my experience with all of you who tuned in from around the world.”
