Delivering the welcome address, the Vice-Chancellor of Botho University, Dr Sheela Raja Ram, shared with delight two significant milestones. She addressed the attentive audience about Botho University turning 25 years in 2022 and another upcoming milestone where BU will turn ten years as a University in 2023. She fondly shared the journey of starting as a single discipline IT-focused institution but now the maturity of an educational institution with a presence in four Southern African countries and the rapidly growing Blended and Distance Learning campus.
Dr Sheela Raja Ram informed the stakeholders that the new programmes were fully compliant with all regulatory requirements, and the continuous focus on graduate employability was also ingrained in the new programmes. She shared with the audience the Botho Graduate Profile enhanced by mechanisms such as student internships and work-integrated learning to ensure that what BU offers is in sync with industry standards.
Director of the Department of Tertiary Education and Financing (DTEF), Ms Neo Sebolao applauded the university for launching cutting edge programmes that will produce global graduates who are ready to compete anywhere in the world. She applauded Botho University for its dynamic learning experience that combines both classroom and beyond classroom learning. The event was graced by senior industry professionals, academia and members of the media fraternity.
