Botho University (BU) hosted a three-day Open Day from the 23rd to the 25th of May 2022 at the Multi-Purpose Hall (MPH), Gaborone Campus. The event was a lovely showcase of the BU interdisciplinary programmes and state-of-the-art campus facilities to partners, stakeholders, and prospective students. In attendance were BU Senior Management and board, key stakeholders from government, parastatals, and private organisations, as well as prospective students.
In her opening remarks on the first day of the event, Botho University Vice-Chancellor, Dr Sheela Raja Ram was delighted that the Open Day was an opportunity to interact with members of the public, stakeholders, and students to share the journey of where BU started and future aspirations. She also highlighted that as BU celebrated its 25th Anniversary, there was a lot to share and showcase, from interdisciplinary programmes that are industry-relevant and meet regulatory requirements.
Dr Sheela Raja Ram said that BU continues to offer challenge-driven education, which includes internships for every student and work-integrated learning in the Faculty of Hospitality and Sustainable Tourism. She also highlighted the key partnerships between various Pan-African universities and international universities such as Baden-Wuerttemberg Cooperative State University (DHBW) in Germany and the KTH Royal Institute of Technology in Sweden.
She proudly shared the glowing survey and assessment results from International Finance Corporation (IFC) on BU employability initiatives conducted in November 2021. The survey gave BU an employability score of 77% putting BU on par with other peers who focus on employability and 97% of BU students said they will recommend BU.
The open day was wrapped up with a prize-giving ceremony on the third day, Pro-Vice-Chancellor, Mr. Ravi Srinivasan awarded prize winners in the categories of Administration:
For the Administration categories the first prize winner also walked away with a cash prize of P1000:

2. Office of Quality Management (IQAD & Library)
3. Student Affairs & Alumni Department (SAAD)
In the Faculties, the prizes were awarded by Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Academics & Quality), Dr Ivy Rose Mathew, and the overall winner also walked away with a cash prize of P1000.

The prize-giving ceremony also celebrated the superb Master of Ceremony, Kgosi Saungweme, for his hosting duties for the three-day event and many other events he has hosted before. In closing the ceremony, the Dean (Office External Relations), Ms Marang Mutuna, extended her sincere gratitude to the pioneers of Botho University and the Vice-Chancellor for pursuing a dream of excellence. She further celebrated all the staff members for putting a successful event as well as the attendees for their participation.
