    BU & NWU explore partnership opportunities

    North-West University (NWU) staff paid a courtesy visit with NWU Principal and Vice-Chancellor, Dr Mzubanzi Bismark Tyobeka to BU Senior Management led by BU Vice-Chancellor, Dr Sheela Raja Ram. The meeting was held on the 11th of August 2022 at the Gaborone Campus to explore possible collaboration opportunities between the two parties.

    In sharing the BU journey, Dr Sheela Raja Ram remarked about the humble beginnings of BU in 1997 to now 25 years later having achieved steady growth and many milestones as a private university. She further highlighted the importance of employability and global partnerships which have significantly improved BU offering of industry-relevant programmes and graduates, she noted two key partners: KTH Royal Institute of Technology (KTH) from Sweden for its challenge-driven education while the partnership with Duale Hochschule Baden-Wuerttemberg (DHBW) enabled Work- Integrated- Learning in the Hospitality department in BU.

    NWU Principal and Vice-Chancellor, Dr Mzubanzi Bismark Tyobeka commended BU’s evident efforts in gender equality with a majority of women in BU holding senior management positions. Raising the flag high on this front was Pro-Vice Chancellor, Finance and Employability, Dr Priya Iyer and Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Academics & Quality), Dr Ivy Rose Mathew. Dr Tyobeka said they naturally gravitated towards BU and Botswana as they were a lot of connections, especially with the alumni.
