Botho University Class of 2022 celebrated their remarkable achievements on October 20th. In her welcome remarks, Dr. Sheela Raja Ram, Botho University Vice-Chancellor, highlighted the university’s commitment to practical education, employability, digital competence, and entrepreneurship, in addition, the university also received recognition for digital transformation through the D4TEP programme.
In his keynote address, Mr. Andrew Maatla Motsomi, Managing Director of Debswana Diamond Company, emphasized the role of education in empowering communities, echoing the Debswana sustainability strategy “Building Forever.”
A total of 649 graduates, including 170 post-graduate degrees, were honored at the ceremony, with top-performing students receiving cash prizes and internship opportunities from generous sponsors.
Adding to the excitement of this unforgettable day, outstanding students were recognized for their exceptional achievements.
Patricia Njenjema stood out as the valedictorian and received the prestigious Festus Mogae Award for Excellence. Sponsored by the De Beers Group, Patricia received a P5,000 cash prize and a priceless opportunity for training and an internship with the diamond industry giants. The “Sir Seretse Khama Ian Khama Spirit of Botho” Award for Overall Excellence went to Tholakele Peter, who will be receiving a fully paid trip to Thailand for 4 weeks in Jan 2024 (valued at USD5000).
