BU students excel at work integrated learning programme at Protea-Marriot hotel

Botho University’s Faculty of Hospitality and Sustainable Tourism hosted hospitality students Reginah Ntsane, Basadi Gaboitsalwe, and Audrey Makhila last week to discuss their progress in their Work-Integrated-Learning (also known as Dual Learning) program, which began on the 21st February 2022. The students will be attached to Protea-Marriot Hotel (formerly known as Lansmore Masa Square Hotel) for half of their semester, while the other half will be spent on-campus learning.

Botho University benchmarked this model from a partner institution, DHBW Cooperative State University. The model ensures that students have adequate industry exposure before they graduate, enhancing their employability.

According to Ms Audrey Makhila, the class representative, the students are excited about the challenging work they are exposed to after only two weeks in the industry. She stated that students are gaining real experience in the hospitality business, which will help them enhance their skills.
