Eswatini campus hosts Insika Yakusasa girls mentorship programme

Student and Alumni Affairs Department (SAAD) on the 11th March 2022 engaged Lusweti Institute for Health Development Communication to host Insika Yakusasa Girls Mentorship Programme in Eswatini Campus.

Insika Yakusasa is a project funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID). It’s main aim is to help prevent new HIV infections and bolster support and opportunities among Orphans and Vulnerable Children (OVC) together with Adolescent Girls (AGs) and Young Women (YW).

For the session, various topics were discussed ranging from creating a safe space, why girls are more vulnerable to HIV infections and access to various services provided by organisations. The programme also puts emphasis on encouraging the girls to start their own small businesses, and are empowered on how to save and run a successful business. Furthermore, there are business mentors to assist with business-related issues while life mentors assist them on health-related issues.
