Botho University Faculty of Hospitality and Sustainable Tourism (FHST) participated in and facilitated a workshop for local volunteers for the popular annual Jwaneng Desert Bush Walk, on Saturday 9th July 2022, held in Jwaneng. The theme for the workshop was Event Management and Sport Tourism Volunteering and the majority of the attendees were Jwaneng Youth who will contribute to the upcoming Jwaneng Desert Bush Walk.
Botho University’s team from FHST: Head of Department (Department of Hospitality), Mrs Sethunya Mogami and Senior Lecturer (Department of Travel Tourism), Ms Olivia Nthoi were part of the facilitators for the workshop and joined by founders of the Desert Bush Walk, CSI-Concepts Foundation. Botho University has been a partner of the Desert Bush Walk since its inception in 2013 and the valuable partnership has over the years seen FHST students volunteering in the event management process of the international event.
The founders of the charity event, CSI Concepts Foundation mandate is to raise funds and support sustainable community development projects. CSI-Concepts Foundation also supports other community-based organisations, children and underprivileged members of communities by encouraging the private sector to be involved in fundraising initiatives for community development.
