    Students & parents grace 2022/23 cohort welcome day

    On the 10th August 2022, Admissions Department hosted a Welcome Day for the First Year students who will resume their academic year in August 2022. Team Leader-Admissions, Mr Kgosi Saugweme kept the momentum of the programme as the Master of Ceremonies and Assistant Manager-Mr Duelang Ngwako introduced special guests from BU Senior Management, representatives from the Department of Tertiary Education Financing (DTEF) and First National Bank (FNB), Student Representative Council (SRC), Alumni and most important guests being new students accompanied by proud parents.

    Dean-Office of Staff, Students & Outreach, Mr Mosoma Kgotla congratulated the students for securing admission to BU and them to embrace diversity and tolerance. In his keynote address, Pro-Vice-Chancellor Communications, Mr Golekanye Setume pledged that BU will provide the best experience beyond quality education and other holistic initiatives and experiences beyond the classroom to help the students achieve their dreams.

    Pro-Vice-Chancellor, Academics & Quality-Dr Ivy Rose Mathew shared how quality was a key part of BU, hence all campuses were recognised and accredited in their respective countries with relevant regulatory bodies. Dr Mathew further highlighted blossoming partnerships with universities globally such as Germany, Sweden, South Africa, Malaysia, and the United States of America (USA) etc.

    Principal Publicity Officer, Mr Mothusi Ntikile from the Department of Tertiary Education Financing (DTEF) proudly stated that the COVID-19 pandemic inspired the organisation to embrace technology by making the sponsorship online for the latest cycle. He explained the importance of students understanding the expectations of the contract and understanding the proper communication channels throughout their academic journey. FNB Branch Manager-RailPark Branch, Mr Bakgatla Mookodi congratulated the students on their achievement and unpacked different financial solutions offered by FNB and shared tips on how students can be financially savy.

    BU Alumni, Ms Gobakwe Ramadi, a researcher, author and Health Practitioner, spoke about her BU experience. During her studies, Ms Ramadi received Deans’ Awards every year during her tenure at BU and also shared about her civic engagements in the United States.

    Dean-Office of External Relations, Mrs Marang Mutuna praised BU personnel for putting together the entertaining event. She told students to concentrate on excelling on their new path and becoming meaningful members of society.
